"Myself and my family thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Islay Oyster Shed. Although the location is slightly remote - is is well-worth the drive! The freshness of these Oysters is second to none - they are locally sourced and shucked to order. All of the food was absolutely delicious - including the natural and deep-fried oysters. The americano was also the best we’ve had on the island. If you are visiting Islay, this is a MUST visit - you will not find this quality and freshness elsewhere."

"Stopped in for some fresh oysters, stayed for the Sunday roast lunch. Wow - glad we happened to come by on a Sunday. The roast lunch was massive, delicious and not to be missed if you’re on Islay on a Sunday. Started with 6 fresh oysters and they were also delicious. Outstanding customer service, highly recommend."

"This place is fantastic. Outstanding seafood... obviously oysters but also fantatic crab sandwiches! My wife is vegetarian and they also did a great roast veggie foccacia sandwich, plus kids menu for the wee ones. Would reccommend booking, as its at the end of a pretty remote road and we had to come back a second day as was full the first time!"

"This place never fails! I have now visited three times with my girlfriend (all on three separate trips to Islay) as the food is amazing.. every.single.time! HIGHLY recommend the crab sandwich (if they have crab that day.. their seafood is all caught fresh nearby in local waters that you can see from your table, and is therefore subject to availability from day to day). We both make a point of having ALL their oysters as well: next level! This place has actually made me enjoy oysters, they're that good! I'd recommend trying to reserve a table due to limited space and kitchen opening hours, but mainly just because you don't want to be disappointed with being turned away after you've read all these deservedly great reviews!! For those not in a savoury mood, there's cakes/bakes and coffee, and a neat little gift store section on the way in."

"The Islay Oyster Shed is tucked away in the middle of nowhere, so you’ll definitely need a car to get there. We started with the soup, and wow, it was absolutely amazing! Next, we tried the natural oysters, which were pretty good, followed by the baked and fried oysters though those weren’t really my thing. For mains, we had the lamb sandwich, which was super tasty, the beef pie, which was just okay, and the crab sandwich, which was delicious. Overall, the food here is really good, and it’s definitely worth the trip for the experience!"

"Truly amazing place. You drive down this picture perfect narrow road on Islay. As you come to the end there is cozy, clean and comforting restaurant. The Shed is a misnomer it's a beautiful restaurant with a spectacular view. The oysters are large and mouthwatering tasty. Great price too."

"This is a ‘must visit’ place on Islay! Interesting, unusual and items on the menu! Oysters from directly in front of the venue , prepared 3 ways and all of them tasty! Extremely guest friendly and helpful staff, willing to answer almost any questions, lovely outdoor terrace with views over Loch Gruinart and surrounding fields. Well organized and clean facility. 14 different ice creams on the menu, excellent coffee and espresso! Fried haggis balls were especially good, chicken liver pate also. Note that alcoholic drinks are not served, but there is a good selection of limonades and soft drinks. Do take the time to visit, it’s worth it! Kitchen is open from 10:00 to 15:00 as the cook must pick up her kids from school and day care, so plan to arrive well before 15:00 if you want to have a meal."
